Getting to and from Canberra Airport
Canberra Airport is in Majura, about 8 km east of the city centre.
Transport Canberra bus route R3 runs to Civic from outside baggage claim, about every 15 minutes on weekdays and every 30 minutes at weekends. The buses have little luggage space. Taxis leave from the indoor rank on the ground floor, and rideshare pickups have their own waiting lounge just outside arrivals.
Rental desks are in the arrivals hall, and there is a petrol station beside the terminal for refuelling before you return the car. Morning fog between May and September can delay arrivals until mid-morning.

Meeting a flight at Canberra Airport
- Check the board again just before you leave. Estimated landing times often change while a flight is in the air.
- "Landed" means the aircraft is on the ground, not that passengers are out. Allow time for taxiing, disembarking and baggage, and longer after an international flight with passport and customs checks.
- If a flight disappears from the board or shows as cancelled, the airline will have the latest rebooking information.
